ABOUT THE DAY

National Friend Check-In Day February 21st

It all started with two friends, miles apart but always connected. In 2019, one was struggling in Texas, and without hesitation, the other took a day off, hopped on a plane, and showed up—because that’s what friends do. That spontaneous visit was exactly what they both needed: a moment to breathe, to laugh, and to remind each other that they weren’t alone.

Fast forward to February 21, 2020—this time, the roles were reversed. The friend from Houston flew to Baltimore to check in on the one who needed a little extra love. When they realized they had unknowingly shown up for each other on the same exact day two years in a row, they knew it wasn’t just a coincidence—it was a reminder.

That’s how National Friend Check-In Day was born. February 21 is now a call to action—a day to pause, reach out, and remind your friends that they matter. Whether it’s a text, a call, or even a surprise visit, checking in can make all the difference.

Because life gets busy, but true friendship never fades. Let’s make time for each other.
